Living the Dream
The Story Behind Wood’n’Things Australia
Wood’n’Things Australia is the result of a lifelong passion for creating, building and working with timber.
Kevin’s journey began in Christchurch, New Zealand, where he owned Uncle Kev’s Woodwork Shop, creating handcrafted timber pieces, furniture, wooden toys and repairing musical instruments. Alongside his woodworking, Kevin followed another childhood dream — becoming a firefighter — volunteering for 17 years with the Sumner Fire Brigade and being recognised for his service with the Queen’s Service Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct.
A love of adventure led Kevin to build a 35-foot steel yacht with his father and eventually sail the Pacific, travelling through Tonga, Fiji and Vanuatu, where he met his wife Nikki.
After more than 35 years, his passion for woodworking was reignited, leading to the creation of Wood’n’Things Australia in Brisbane. Each piece is thoughtfully handcrafted with care, combining traditional skills, quality materials and a love for creating unique timber works that bring warmth, character and joy to everyday life.
Every piece has a story — and Kevin loves being part of creating it.
